Growing up in southern Illinois, financial advisor Scott Thaxton worked in his grandparents’ family-run businesses. Alternating between his paternal grandfather’s clothing stores and his maternal grandfather’s rock mining operation, he learned valuable lessons about running a successful company and longed to someday establish a business of his own. It comes as no surprise that this early, informal education from his closest mentors would become the foundation of what we now call CarrThaxton Financial Group.
Although he originally studied and practiced law, Scott quickly realized his heart was not in this profession. Taking a leap of faith, he decided to explore his intense interest in the financial markets, eventually working his way from one of thousands of advisors at a wire house to the co-creator and principal of a premier independent firm. For more than 20 years, Scott has assisted clients in pursuing a broad range of financial and life goals which are as diverse and distinct as the families he serves. His main motivation comes from providing the necessary guidance to facilitate happy and comfortable retirements.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He remains a member of the Massachusetts and District of Columbia Bars. Away from the office, he can be found in the company of his wife, Lisa, and their three children. Friends and family know him as “Coach” due to his involvement with Little League baseball and town basketball.
